This is taken in the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is in a smaller courtyard behind the main halls.
The lighting was good and the gold color came out very nice.

A beautiful composition, Etienne. The light and shadow on the Chinese character is just excellent. Its sharpness contrasts nicely with the slightly blurred background. Good DOF. Well framed.

The play of light, shadows and shapes is interesting so is the division of space and depth. I also love the complimentary colour scheme. Its full of energy.

Hello Etienne, I like your variation on this scene. It's fascinating to see the same detail posted somewhere else on TE - I guess the world really is a small place (or is it that TE is so large?) Where I have concentrated purely on the character and geometry of the design, you have chosen to show more of the context. The blurred doorway behind does this well. Good shot.

Nice light, and the off-center framing works well. TFS.

Hi Etienne, I like this photo very much. It captures something of the mystery of the Forbidden City in the subtle shadows and in the door in the background. One wonders where it is leading. Wonderful color here, in the green, gold & red, but also the pink detail on the left. A thoughtful & interesting composition!
