Photographer’s Note

This is the Taoist 'Dongyue Temple' in Chaoyangmen, Beijing, subway stop #212, line 2. The stone turles carry 'stela' (plural of stele), on their backs, with inscriptions in Chinese.

Hi Chris,

The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the stone turtles. The trees are framing well the temple. The good luminosity has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris,
interesting pic of those giant mythological beasts called bìxì, they are a hybrid between dragon and turtle. Unfortunately your picture is not crisp. So I have made a workshop and I hope you like it.

Hi Chris

This is a very interesting light, must be sunset, as most of your picture has a reddish hue. Good, that you included some visitors, that adds life to the shot. It's a bit unfortunate, that a tree is right behind of one of the persons, but I guess, you had to be fast, otherwise you certainly would had avoided the tree "growing" out of the head of this visitor. Otherwise sharpness and colors are fine. Well done
