Photographer’s Note

Picture taken during an afternoon and evening tour of Walmer township in Port Elizabeth. Up the road from our host's home a woman runs an after-school dance group for the local kids.

Walmer Township

Situated between Port Elizabeth Airport and the suburb of Walmer. Walmer Township is home to about 70,000 indivduals mainly from the indigenous Xhosa Community.

For the most part it looks like classic Township, but in recent years goverment projects have introduced a higher level of services and regenerated some areas of housing.

However many social problems remain, HIV infection rates run at 30%, Unemployemt is over 80%.

Hello Kevin. An interesting photo. It is fascinating and worth seeing in strange way. The dynamics and movement please me. If one wants so, the photo shows also the view into the future of this country. Regards, Wolfgang.

Its a nice photo with lots of things going on. You caught the movements nicely.

On a note, I'll just mention that you posted it under a wrong geographical place - I'm pretty sure this is not Zhejiang in China!!
