Photographer’s Note

For most people in China Hangzhou is known for its history, culture and of course the West Lake. Walking around the lake is a challenge and you dodge hordes of tourist groups, all armed with megaphones waving flags and everyone wearing the same hat. The lake itself can be beautiful depending on whether it is a hazy day or not. I took this picture while waiting for the sun to set. Although the picture quality itself is not the most interesting, the reason I wanted to share it is because it shows the growth of a massive city behind China's most frequented domestic tourist destination. The city has been designated as one of the most competitive places to do business in all of China (Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou included). But what you hear most about the city is West Lake and all the history surrounding it.
