The first people I met, after arriving to Chongming island. With smiles like this, it was hard not to feel good in the island.
It was a 3-4 hours bicycle trip from Shanghai and then a 1 1/2 hours boattrip. I arrived just in time to catch a beautiful sunset.
Big development plans are scheduled in Chongming island, but nevertheless the island has a very laid-back atmosphere, which makes it feel very far away from Shanghai. Even the dialect is very different from the Shanghai hua, spopken in Shanghai.
Great place, very recommendable.
