Photographer’s Note
This lily pond was a nice place to have a 6am chat in Shanghai's Renmin Park. The sunrise was particularly affected by the pollution in the air that day. I really don't love the composition, but I was across a lake and couldn't get another angle.

Hey Andrew,
Just logged in and saw this and your others. Well done. I like the lighting and actually think the pollution might have helped. I agree about a few things in the composition being off (bottom right, the top, and that pole), but cropping would disturb what is good. Jer might have waded into the pond, but he also might not have made it up by five were we together. I like what you did with the Tai Chi shots, exposures look good.

The light pole is unfortunate. Without it the composition would have been stronger. But I like how you captured the interaction between the three men. Also, I don't think you need to do any cropping here. I like the fact of seeing just a touch of the sunrise at the top of the image. Maybe just a touch of contrast (or even Contrast Masking) would get rid of the grayish tone throughout the image. Anyway, you did well under tough conditions. Well done!

I do like the early morning feeling in this photo, besides all the other "problems".
The poluition helped in soften the atmosfere.
Real calm phto. I like it.

I love this shot. The composition could be improved but it is not always possible and it is far better than no shot at all. The mist and the small touches of color add a lot to the charming atmosphere of this photo. Well done.
