well...not exactly new, the shiny building is the Jin Mao tower (where in which the 'spider-web' pictures were taken), one of the tallest in the world, completed in 1997.
But this part in Shanghai, Pudong, is always under construction. New and usually taller buildings rise up every year or so.

A nice , frosty morning light, Cheuk, with a plae sun reflected in the tower and spilling out onto the street. The colors are all so cool and neutral except for the gold on the tower and that is nice. regards kevin

The tilt emphasises the size of the buildings, and I like how the tower is bracketed by the two figures crossing the road. Great light on it too.
The inclusion of the building under construction tells the story of the furious rate of building in this city very well, but in terms of the aesthetics of the image I think I'd have preferred a simpler shot with just the tower and the two pedestrians.
Either way it works well.
Good work Cheuk Hin.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi tcht

This shot really hits me, its so powerful. Firstly, you have that strong leading line in the foreground, those two figures on the pedestrian crossing, what else can the eye do but follow them. That line leads your eye into the picture and then on to the center of interest, that tower block.

I agree with Ben about the tilt, it does give the impression of height, but more than that it also creates the feeling of dignity, strength, and grandeur.

But there is a lot more in this photograph than that, there is the sun's reflection on the building and the tower crane in the top of the frame. It's not just a tower crane it's an important element of your composition, because it frames the picture and acts a stopper, holding your eye in the frame.

The more I look at this photograph the more things I see, that I want to talk about, but I think I have already said enough.

Bonsoir Cheuk Hin
j'apprécie la lumière sur cette architecture et l'ambiance que cela apporte à l'ensemble de la photo. Très bonne présence des personnages pour donner l'échelle. Bravo.
