Photographer's Note

The Jinmao Tower in Pudong is the tallest building in China (420.5m) and currently the fourth tallest building in the world. From the 88th floor observation deck you can get commanding 360o views of Shanghai as well as a groovy (and much photographed) view straight down the centre of the building to the foyer of the Grand Hyatt Hotel which occupies the other floors.

Personally I think the Jinmao has a very attractive art-deco appearance which contrasts greatly with its neighbour, the ultra-modern pink Oriental Pearl TV Tower. These two buildings combine with many others to create a truly vibrant skyline best viewed from across the Huangpu River at the Bund.

This shot was taken from the Pudong side of the river as I glimpsed the Jinmao through a gap in a group of other buildings near the Super-Brand Shopping Mall.
