Before someone makes complains to Adam, this is not a photo of my family!!! I was not born Chinese and I was not adopted by any Chinese family!!!
I was not sure if I would post this photo, it was taken last year during my trip to Suzhou. I saw already some photos of other people photgraphing people in the most interesting poses or with interesting backgrounds. This one is a simple one, I rather find it interesting the pose of the family itself, so serious, so ordered, behind the characters of some important temple in Suzhou.
And I can assure this was a very popular place for family photos. For sometime I wondered why people here take photos in front of the most strange places: monuments, indications, sometimes ads, neon lights, streets, etc. My interpretation now is that for those people, more important than visiting the place itself, it is to show that they were there. And more important than showing the place itself, it is more important to have someone (known!) there. So here a photo of a famous place with (unknown!) people in it:p |

HI Ricardo,
I agree with your note about people taken picture to show we whent there.. I like the "no expression" of the familly, it seems that they don't even want to be there..
Thank for sharing
Jaune
Hi Ricardo - with a name like yours I figured you probably weren't Chinese! I too like the unsmiling expressions. Might be worth cropping away some of the right hand side to move the family away from the centre. TFS, Roberto
It is a nice funny picture, with the family all set for the photographer, which is well positioned in the corner of the frame.
Hi Ricardo,
People are so funny when trying to look serious and pose for the camera. The stunning colors and funny pose make it look like a filming set of one of Felini's movies. Also a good compositional descision to place the photographer on the bottom left- thus breaking the symmetrical lines.
