Blue Hour at Panchi Wharf, a photo from Jiangsu, East

Photographer's Note

Air quality was exceptionally good for China on this evening & you can even make out distant mountains on the horizon! This is the Confucian Temple dock in southern Nanjing. The tour boats at left, cost about 80 yuan ($12) for a sightseeing trip around the canals & bridges, and through Bailuzhou Park. Those 2 small white walled buildings far left, immediately above the boats, are the ticket office. Highly recommended if you're ever in Nanjing.

Good Morning Chris,

This is lovely; not only do you have the delightfully lit pagodas with their attractive reflections but the red colours add a vibrance and warmth that draws the eye like a magnet. You have a pleasing balance of f/g and b/g light and, as you mention in your notes, a great sense of depth.

Hi Chris,

The reflections on the water of the canal are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the llighted buildings. The length of the canal is giving depth to the scene. The blue hour is making the colors to standout. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris - Despite the fact that we hear about the 'new China' and the frantic modernisation and building boom, you still manage to find little corners of what we occidentals consider to be "Chinese". A pretty evening view with the lights illuminating the Chinese pagoda attractively. The blue of sky and water is lovely. Warm regards rosemary

oohh! i liked this one right away!!
in the small thumbnail version. the colors resemble a clowns outfit! :)
but here in the larger version we get to see what the scene really is.
The fact that you actually had to mention how good the air quaility was is saying something itself!!!

for obvious reasons i really enjoy viewing the neon colors in the dimmed natural light.
