Since it was Chinese new year day yesterday, I have decided to post something from China.
Zhuozheng Yuan, literally meaning "garden for use after retirement from politics", also has the name the "Humble Administrator's Garden". Humble or not, the administrator must have been very rich (and corrupt) to build such a place. It is the most complete and beautiful Chinese garden I've been to. This is a must-go if you visit Suzhou and is well worth a half day excursion from Shanghai (1 hour by train).
The best part of it are the numerous man-made lakes and trees with large canopy the garden offers. Being 39.5 deg C that day, you could feel much difference once you've entered the garden. |

cheuk,
Happy New Year!
Beautiful shot of the garden, good natural light and serenity feeling to it. I have been to Suzhou 10 years ago, I went to many gardens. I don't know for sure if I have been here.

What is the age of that palace? The word “corrupt” may be is a bit too strong but, who knows? The picture is very nice with a good composition and colours. The place looks really very relaxing. Well done.

very serene atmosphere, very beautiful composition, lots of depth . I like to see the tiny people one with an umbrella at the end. Very nice work.

Superb sharpness, & a tranquil garden scene of the "Humble Administrator's Garden", something that Suzhou is world famous for. (I've been to the 'Master of the Fishernets' garden). Xie xie. Tfs!
Hello CH - at first I though this was Japan, I guess the heat kept away the tour buses, I like the low light, and also the clarity of the light, a world away from the Beijing I saw years ago, the banana tree (in Beijing??) is also interesting.
