CFPA BBS Top10 of March 2014 – An Old Fair in Fujian
By Hong Jian
In Hulei, a town in Yongding, Hujian, there is a winding lane more than 200 meters, which used to be a bustling fair for a long time. Now, the lane is quiet with most young people having gone to work in cities. However, you can still see the old granny selling pop corns, the small workshop making quilts, the eatery serving beef balls and the caponizer waiting for customers. The pavement is wet as before. The white smoke from chimneys is going up slowly. The sound of laundry from the Yongding River is still as clear as that in my childhood. The old fair is almost defiant of time, but only the old and the young can be seen sitting at the fair. Maybe the old fair will disappear someday after they leave the place.

Very impressive shot an unusual angle. I loved the way the baskets are captured from a close structured to scattered and decoloured ones.
The photo also reflects the use of cane, not only for baskets and hat that he is making but the chair he is sitting on and the sandals he is wearing though they are not made of cane but seems to go in the same theme and color.
The photo also suggest about the amount of hard work and manufacturing things in large volume, which China is so known for.
