Photographer's Note

Quanzhou is not a big city (for China), but it's got a fascinating history and a few interesting sights.

This picture was shot in a fascinating old teahouse which goes by the name of 'Gucuo Chafang'. We spent a few most enjoyable hours there, sipping tea, doing a bit of reading and making further plans for our trip.

At the other end of the courtyard was this group of local oldtimers. One of them was reading aloud from a novel (I think), while the others leaned back and listened. What a way to spend an afternoon!

This picture is my little tribute to the dying art of storytelling.

fascinating shot this and so originally captured and presented. The elements here are intriguing and one wants to hear the story so it is therefore very effective. Well done, very creative imagery!

Wat een sterk beeld vol coleur local én dynamiek : sommige vectoren (ledematen, lichaamshouding) staan op 'rust' andere duiden actie aan. Prachtige story telling van story telling!

ce qui attire l'oeil d'abord est cette jambe nue, puis ensuite le rgard se porte au fond où on découvre un homme, un livre à la main, qui semble captiver ceux qui sont autour de lui.

Story telling culture is dead in Singapore now, no more! I remember vividly when I was a teenager in the 60s. It was a daily affair in the evening when the old folks story tellers became centre of attention, crowded by listeners of all ages sitting under dimmed light sitting near the Singapore river and this usually dragged on till near midnight! Very nostalgic, this image brings back my old fond memories of yesteryears. Fine effort and thanks for sharing.
