Two Dong children

| It is not a good photo as the left girl is not clear. But I really like this photo which was taken in ZaiDang, a small Dong village far from CongJiang whithout any bus to there. The children's smile is so kind. |

Hello Yansong,
You have a nicely composed photo of these two girls with their beautiful shirts. I am at a loss as to why the girl on the left is so out of focus. Maybe by stopping down to F/5.6 she would have been sharper. Your focal length was at 155mm which is at the 200mm equivalent for film which may have accounted for some telephoto "compression" effect and the subsequent shallow DOF. Perhaps changing the iso to 200 and stopping down to F 5.6 or F6.3 would have made a big difference. I used to take portraits at F/2.8 or F/4 but I had too much trouble with the shallow DOF. A trick that I use often is to have the farthest subject come up to the same focusing plane as the person closest to the camera. A wonderful expression from these lovely girls. Maybe you can sharpen the girl on the left with PS. A very good double portrait in spite of some DOF problems.
Best regards,
Stan
