[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture was taken in the Tagong grasslands in western Sichuan. This Tibetan lady is walking back home.

Note the vultures in the sky...

---

The wild west of Sichuan is distinctly Tibetan. This area once formed part of the Tibetan region of Amdo, (in)famous for its bandits and caravan-raiders. The local Khamba Tibetans are known as the most religious and war-like of all Tibetans. Many are nomads, living in black tents.

For more on the Tibetan people, culture and dilemma, please see my previous post.

---

Also this picture was posted while thinking about the earthquake victims. The epicenter was very close to where this picture was taken.

Beautiful landscape picture, where the human figure sets the scale, and give a sense of immensity.

Hola Benny,
Una pequeña figura ante la inmensidad de este maravilloso paisaje.
Preciosa composición y colores muy poco habituales.
Gran trabajo.
Saludos,
Mirari

Hello Benny,
A stunning scenery which you have used very cleverly. The small red person is perfectly placed in the corner and underscores the vastness of the landscape.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Benny,
what a wonderful composition! The contrast between the majestic mountain and the frailty of the Tibetan lady couldn't be bigger ... and seams quite symbolic ... thankyou also for the thoughtful note.

Olá Benny,

The motif is well done Benny , but of course all the grain and the distribution of light is not so good.
Interesting to see this typical winter scene - gret landscape.Analogue print scan...ButYou must pass the photos for a program that cleans the noise.
You agree?

Regards,
Filipe

Hi Benny,
it´s a bit grainy, but the composition is perfect,
compliments, christian

great picture for someones story. well shot

hello Benny
When I saw your picture I thought like "sacavem",that it was a little bit too noisy! But i can understand your explanation!I like very much this kind of wild landscape! The white mountain gives a nce luminosity to the photo.I have tried a WS,to remove a little bit the noise!
Regards.
Pascale

Hi Benny,
I love the contrast here between the tiny human figure and the enormous jagged shape of the mountain. The red of the woman’s clothing stands out very well against the soft tones of the rest of the picture and her very upright posture, arms by her side, gives the impression that she is standing there contemplating the immensity of nature.
Personally I’m not bothered by the grain here. I think we’ve grown very spoilt in the last few years with digital images that appear ultra sharp and clean on-screen but are often a little soulless. I bet this looks great as a print too.

Benney,
I like the inclusion of the person in this great landscape, that give such a clear perspective of the wide open nature. Technically, could be sharper, but it's good enough for the impression of the majectic land.

Hello Benny, colleague,
very good composition with the atmosphere of total solitude. The scale is enormous.
Thank you for visiting my gallery.
I wish you nice holidays - soon here :-).
Best regards
Romana

Hi Benny,

I must confess I'm not a big fan of people photography... I don't really know why. Perhaps I prefer see and shoot what human being is about to destroy than shooting destroyers themself... Anyway, I was browsing your gallery and finaly found one landscape shot! :D I like it very much. And you know what? I like the red whomen standing on the left part of it. It really brings something interesting... So, there's perhaps a hope I'll like portrait one day! ;-)

Cheers,

Loïc

Benny: ah, yes, that mountain - what a peak. And a firm shot. regards, c
