Photographer’s Note
Enjoying a gaiwan of Emei maofeng in a teahouse in Huanglong Xi. Sichuan is more famous for its teahouses than its teas although the habit of drinking and cultivating tea in gardens originally began in Sichuan (because in Yunnan and around it people ate tea and picked it from wild trees). Teapot is virtually unknown in Sichuan - people use gaiwans instead. Copper pot on upper right corner holds hot water. Reliable sources tell that teahouses existed in Sichuan even during the mad years of so called cultural revolution when they were practically wiped out everywhere else in the Middle Kingdom.
