Photographer’s Note
This man were the last to appear at the evenings display of Sichuan Opera, one which I really enjoyed.
Hope you'll like the picture!
Sichuan opera or Chuanju (Chinese: 川剧 pinyin: chuānjù, Jyutping: cyun1 kek6) is a type of Chinese opera originating in China's Sichuan province. Today's Sichuan opera is a relatively recent synthesis of 5 historic melodic styles. Regionally Chengdu remains to be the main home of Sichuan opera, while other influential locales include Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hubei and Taiwan provinces.
Overall the art form is well known for its singing, which is less constrained than that of the more popular Beijing opera form. Sichuan opera is more like a play than other forms of Chinese opera, and the acting is highly polished. The music accompanying Sichuan opera utilizes a small gong and an instrument called a Muqin, which is similar to the Erhu.
The traditional formula is quite systematic with a combination of stunts like face-changing, tihuiyan, sword-hiding, fire-spitting and beard-changing with the plot and different characters.

Hi Peter,
good light, strong contrast - everything just right for
showing off his powdered theatrical face wearing a strong
make-up.
Good pose and repetition of movement from the dancers
behind him.
Likeable!
Cheers,
Robi

Hej Peter, friend,
I understand your nostalgie for China. I have some also. I was invited in a Chinese opera in Peking. At that time Chinese public did not make the aplaudissements by hands.
You sent a nice portrait. In black and white, why not.
So glad to see you again, friend. Have a nice snow for walks and pictures.
