Photographer’s Note
To visit the Panda breeding facilities in Chengdu is quite an awarding experience and you can only hope that knowledge will lead to more openings of breeding centers.
While shooting, the rain and thick fog made it hard to get any satisfying shots, but well aware of the flaws I still kind of like this one. I hope you do to!

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (Chinese: 成都大熊猫繁育研究基地), or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, People's Republic of China.
Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2007, it has had 110 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 62.
Its stated goal is to "be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination."
Chengdu Panda Base has partnered with many organizations in improving ways to conserve giant pandas. For example, its partnership with Zoo Atlanta helped the zoo secure the loan of 2 giant pandas. To date, these 2 giant pandas, Yang Yang and Lun Lun, have produced two off-springs — female Mei Lan in 2006, and male Xi Lan born on August 30, 2008.

Hi Peter,
Welcome back to TE! I vaguely remember you from your first time around, which probably means that you uploaded some interesting (China) pictures. It might be a good idea to RP the best ones.
This is a good shot too. The panda's have become a very familiar sight, having their pictures taken countless times. Yet, this one is really good and manages to add something extra. Good 'action' shot!

hello Peter
Very good capture of this lovely animal called Panda bear which in Chinese is called 'bear-cat' in China but recently phrased as 'cat-bear' in Taiwan after China donated 2 of them last week called Tuan-Tuan and Yuan-Yuan.
Very sharp focus and really a good shot of the side profile. Good work
tfs, bill
