Taken in a backstreet in Pingyao...
Pingyao is situated in Shanxi not so far away from Beijing, on the way from Xi'an to Beijing. It started to florish in the Ming dynasty but it is much older. There are houses of traders and the first banks in China are situated here.
The city is surrounded by city walls and is probably the only remaining old city in China.
Since 1997 the city is one of the World Relics from the UNESCO.
It is worth a visit!!! |
