[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A red lantern under a temple roof at one of the monasteries in the Wutaishan holy mountain area. To read more about the area see one of my previous posts (click here for instance). Note all the different creatures.

I'm a bit unhappy that I missed to get the edge of the roof into the frame.

Hi Simon

I like the graphism of the brightly lit red lantern, against the dark background. Excellent sharpness, lighting & contrast. Well done!

This is very well built and expressive throught the graphisms.
Very interesting composition and from a great quality with even theses relieves.
I like it very muche for what it shows.

A beautiful light, great colors and a contrasts.
The lines of the temple create a nice complex-effect.

Again you spotted a delightful detail for your photo here, Simon. The red lantern is quite ideally placed in the frame, and I also find the ornate decorations on the roofs, such as the dragons, to be a very nice inclusion. Having some sky above the edge of the roof might be ideal but you shouldn't be too self-critical about this one, I really like how it turned out.

This is a very effective image, Simon. The close-in feel to it as we focus on that lantern and get only glimpses of the amazing architecture; it really works well!

Bonsoir Simon,
La partie coupée du toit n'est pas catastrophique, le sujet principal est excellent et très bien mis en valeur.
Le sujet était difficile à réaliser avec les hautes et basses lumières et je trouve que vous avez très bien maîtrisé cette composition.
J'aime beaucoup.
Amitiés.
Philippe

A fine mix of old architecture (cold stones) and the fragile red paper lamp. I like the tight crop, even you missed the top by accident :-) Nice job - thanks Simon for this and the other photo.

A nice leading our eyes to the red lantern with your great composition here, indeed well worked and excellent sharpness and quality you reached, well controlled the strong light and very good captured,I like it,Simon!
thanks for sharing.
Best Regards
M

Hello Simon,

What I like here is the lack of too many colors and the fact that the red lantern has a dark background so it comes out better. Perhaps I would have like some more sky on the right or no sky at all. I always enjoy archiyecture details. Thanks - Izzet

Wow, a lantern shot. I had to comment on this. A single solitary lantern, whata peaceful photo. Much different from my oacked compositions. I like the peace of this solitude as much as the wonderful roof of this temple. Im a big admirer of asian buddhist temple architecture so this is a wonderful shot in my opinion.
