Pingyao (Chinese: 平遥) is a city in central Shanxi province. During the Qing Dynasty, Pingyao was a financial center of China. It is now renowned for its well-preserved ancient city wall, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Preserved Ming- and Qing-style residences number close to 4,000. The streets and storefronts still largely retain their historical appearance.
Although it is firmly on the tourist trail, it still retains much of its ancient charm. You can step back in time by staying in one of the many restored houses in the old town.
This picture was taken in the court of one of those places, not the one we were staying, but the owner invited us in and we ended up having dinner under the lanterns.
Enjoy! |

Nice and interesting architectural detail, Benny !
(Your title reminds me of the one of a great film...)
Light is not easy but I admire how you still managed it.
Compliments,
Cath.

hi BennyV
Interesting to notice lanterns at this corner of the building. Good soft tone and color contrast. Nice architecture.
