Terra Cotta Army Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is just a photo of the Terra Cotta Army. Discovered in the 70's of last century, by farmers who were looking for water, the Terra Cotta Army was guarding the tomb of the First Emperor of China and it dates from around 200 BC. It's amazing, there are probably more than 7000 soldiers, most part of them still buried and they are all different, the expressions, the hair, the size. Most part of them were found in pieces and are being carefully completed like puzzles - an incredible work!

Olá Ana. É com certeza um grande previlégio poder ver este famoso exército através da lente de um dos "nossos". Assim o acho! As cores estão muito bem e a definição é excelente. Entre frios gélidos e terramotos parece ter sido uma viagem de sonho.

good light and sharpness on that part of the army. I like the angle and close view offering us a lot of the details but also the light which is warm and add some golden glance. Funny to see the headless ones.

Ana, it must be incredible, the concept is so vast and for the time, wow! Your shot is very nice and clear while only showing a small portion of the total gives some idea of the scale of this tomb. Great capture.

Eu já tinha visto mais fotos deste "exército" e sempre achei uma coisa extraordinária. Se todas as figuras são diferentes, é ainda mais extraordinário. Entre outras coisas, foi preciso muita paciência para fazer aquilo.
Nesta foto gosto muito das variações de luz e sombra.

Hi Ana, Out of all the photos I took in China, the ones of the Terracotta Army are the ones I was most disappointed in, however this shot shows a great example of the warriors, some excellent detail & well managed light, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

These Terra Cotta army are amazing funerary art form and here I like the play of light/shade on these warriors which were buried with the emperor. You handled well the light conditions and framed well the scene.

Aah...a post from China! Even though we have seen so many pictures of the army, I am always curious to see more. A nice POV from the side where the light plays an important role in illuminating parts of the statues. Good work Ana!

Really, very good work of the archaeologists to preserve those "soldiers"! You did an also very good work capturing the view of the army under an attractive light! Very fine are the details and the PoV! Some heads are lacked but it is obvious that exploring the place must be a very difficult job!
