Photographer’s Note

The old Muslim quarter is surely one of the places that attracted me most in Xian.Situated within the walls, this is surely a place where you can stay for hours and leave with the feeling you have seen just a small part of it. It has just a small problem, there are usually too many people around so it's not so easy to take photos.I took this one in an old street where it's possible to find many different kinds of ethnic food. This was one of the many sellers I found there.

Very beautiful image of the everyday life. Of beautiful colors and an attractive composition with the smoke on the right and the look so concentrated by this woman preparing her pancakes.

Hello Ana,

A nice, clear and colourful portrait of daily life in Xi'an. This is the kind of picture I like.
One minor critique, though: the right side of the picture seems a bit dull, compared to the rest of the shot. Have you considered cropping it there?

Olá Ana,
Espero que esta série de fotos de Xian se prolongue.
Esta também está extremanente interessante.
Fotograficamente não me agrada muito aquele vazio à direita e parece-me que para a esquerda havia coisas mais interessantes. Mas mostrando mais a esquerda perdia-se uma parte das espetadas e dos tachos dos molhos.
O cartaz vermelho também ficou demasiado posicionado na direcção das roupas quase da mesma cor.
Mas, com tudo isto, gosto muito da foto. Compreendo perfeitamente que nestes locais, com muita gente, é muito difícil fazer as fotos como desejamos. Tive o mesmo problema por exemplo em Arcos de Valdevez, acabando por mandar a foto não totalmente conseguida para workshop.

food preparations have a lot of interesting things. Cooking is one of my hobbies and the cooking from different cultures offers a lot. Good POV (and a luck for the less people) having her in action and so many things she needs.

Olá Anabela, esta série do bairro muçulmano é muito interessante. Gosto especialmente desta pela diagonal e proximidade ao elemento humano, mas a anterior também está cheia de pormenores deliciosos. O fumo aqui dá um toque especial ao ambiente.

Olá Ana,
Gostei muito desta foto, a composição está muito bonita com a sensação de profundidade bem patente numa composição cuidada.
Gosto especialmente do efeito criado pelas "espetadas"(?) no 1º plano. Ontem tentei ir á praça tirar 1s aos vendedores mas não consigo deixar de me sentir atrofiado e acabei por não tirar nada...

Hello Ana,
this series is really interesting. I had a good deal of fun reading the notes. I like being near the human element in your composition.
I think I'd have tried to focus on the foreground, just to see what happens...
