Photographer’s Note
The markets, outside the Grand Mosque of Xian, a city on the old Silk Road, to the Middle East. From Wikipedia:
"The majority of Xi'an residents are Han Chinese, which make up 99.1% of the city's total population. There are around 81,500 ethnic minorities living in Xi'an, including 50,000 Muslim Hui people, many of them concentrated in the famous Muslim quarter, which is also home to the beautiful 1,360 year old Great Mosque of Xi'an."

Hi Chris,
A good shot a market life with dull sky nicely covered by the umbrellas that gives a nice tinge to the scene. I like the perspective of the stalls along the market road, with shatrp details.

Hi, Chris. The perspective is very good here with the parasols lining the market street. The parasols also add a nice colourful touch to the picture while the customers add life to the scene.

Hello Chris,
A good capture of this colourful and lively market scene. I like the diagonal positioning of the street and the view down between the stalls with their parasols. Very good tones and clarity.

Hi Chris,
superb details in that light conditions, well managed exposure. The POV adds interest and depth and all those colours on and under the umbrellas are marvelous. Very nice daily life scene.

Hi Chris,
It looks as rainy as here today, but this street market perspective with no gwailo in sight is far more exotic...

Nice to see some pictures of Xian being posted - it's one of those cities that you see on the map but you can't really remember anything about it because it is less famous than Beijing or Hong Kong and therefore there are fewer pictures of it. Those bright red and green umbrellas really make a big difference in the photo as they really bring this to life. Nicely done!

Bonjour Chris,
dans ces pays où on parle de forte population, je suis étonné de voir tant de photos où la foule est absente, les marchés en Belgique, par exemple, sont toujours bondés.
J'aime beaucou les couleurs ici et ls lumières cette fois sont parfaites.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hi Chris,
Nice view of the Xian Muslim market. Those umbrellas look very interesting and add a lot of colour. I liked this district very much. The old houses, a bit like hutongs in Beijing, some mosques (not only the Great one)muslim restaurants and of course the market and the people there. Thanks for sharing

hello Chris,
I know well this place and I was pleased to discover a picture of the Muslim quarter of Xian in your gallery. Good decision to include the colorful tents in the foreground ... A simple but most effective view of China today -` cheers - Izzet
