Photographer’s Note
I took this shot in the Drum Tower in Xian last August. In ancient China, the drums were used to signal the passing of time and occasional in emergencies.
You need a lot of patience to photograph at these popular tourist spots simply because of the sheer numbers of people that visit them. I waited for about twenty minutes to get a clear shot of this particular drum and while it wasn't the biggest it was located in the best position for lighting.
I was just about to take this shot when this little girl ran up an started to play it. Perfect I thought because you would never had guessed how big that drum really was if she hadn't happened to come along.

This little girl also adds life to this picture of this INCREDIBLY HUGE drum. I found your note very interesting. A great picture. TFS

Hello Terry,
An unusual and interesting motif!
The drum itself has interest value, and the girl is good scaling to give an idea about the impressive size...
Image is well composed, but maybe I'd like to see the left side uncut!
Greetings,
