I love to experiment new possibility in photography as and when the chances permit. This is the technique I call 'walk and shoot' from the hip using slower than usual shutter speeds to create the motion effect.
Shutter was released smoothly while moving into the flow of the hectic crowd to achieve to the desired goal - the slightly less sharpness by blurring all stationary and dynamic objects.
Experimentation can really bring some surprises....
Beiyuamen Street, the famous location in the heartbeat of Muslim old quarter within the ancient walled city of Xian. For centuries the quarter is the magnet for the Muslim community which today numbers around fifty thousand and it's where one of the oldest mosque in the world is located, The Grand Mosque of Xian built in 742 AD during the Tang Dynasty.
The vibrant Beiyuamen, the street that runs north from the 'Drum Tower' gate is worth browsing especially lively in the evening when restaurants are packed and sidewalks are full of food vendors, craft tables and souvenir sellers.

so i take it you do this technique without these people even knowing...is that correct?
its great to see these shots, as it get our creative juices flowing too.
We could all learn from this style, I know from personal experience that sometimes we get too caught up in sharpness and perfection, when a photo like this does the exact opposite.
the colors help in the scene too.
nice work my friend

This is a lot different from most pictures on TE. The closest resemblances I can think of are the common reflections of people and houses in puddles of water, but this is still quite different. Although I really can't say what is going on here you have re-enacted the confusement of a crowded Asian street, or even made me feel like a sleepwalker going down that street barely conscious of the surroundings.

Une composition qui fait mouche, et qui fait la part belle à la créativité photographique.
Bravo pour cette expérience.

mmmm, from far I prefer your previews post, but is good to experiment, may be we must do it from time to time
In fact I did with speed, as you are doing here, like more WS # 2
Great note, as usual

Interesting experiment, aesthetically pleasant result. The TE police might have a fit, but I'm fine with it.

this is a fascinating image that defies the rules on composition, depth, definition and even vertical adjustment:) It provides, though, a marvellous impression of movement and a most delightful puzzle for eyes and mind. I love the interaction between bright/ warm and moody/ dark colours, the soft warmth of the evening light and most of all the mix of the moving elements and the unique, distorted, overlapping patterns which associate them. Your experiment gave you a superb gift, congratulations and thank you! I like very much the spontaneity, colours and atmosphere of the workshop pictures too.
All the best, have a lovely day,

Hi dear Abmdsudi
I like how you keep trying new things, and this is an interesting and successful photo. I've tried this method myself, with nowhere near the same success. The rich colours work too, but by far and away my favourite element is the blurred depth of field. Top shot, congratulations.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day

Interesting experiment, walk and shot, but why not? It is an unusual effect of speed. I like it well done

that´s completely new and original approach to street photography. And the end result you achieved here appeals to me much. It´s kind of abstract and certainly creative in its perception.

An everyday street scene elevated to abstract art via photography ~
both clever and pleasing. I love the little circles between their heads, and just the impression of the motorcyclist speeding by... the expressions on their faces and the multiple bags. So intriguing I can hardly look away...
All best ~
