Photographer’s Note
The famous terracotta army in Xi an, discovered in 1974. The soldiers, all with different faces, were made to protect the buried emperor. There are supposed to be 8.000 soldiers, but all are not dug out yet.

Very good picture Monica. Interesting place, good POV and I like the perspective and depth effect in your shot. Good panoramic view, great details. Maybe tilted a little bit to the left.
Well done. TFS.

Monica,
I have see a few of these warriors in exhibitions and they are splendid.
Apart from that, it is really intersting to see the site where they have been dug out.
I could criticize the small red bit at the bottom but just to say I have seen it.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hello Monica, this is a fabulous large-scale shot of Xian, showing so many ot the buried pottery warriors. Because of the devotion to symmetry that the Chinese had, it is likely that this will have been repeated not just one one side, but in rectangular plots in three others. There is actually a mature sense of archaeology here -- leaving other excavations for future generations, with more sophisticated technology.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Bonjour Monica
This is the first time I can see such a wide view of the Army.
Great converging perspective and very informative!
Take care.

Hi Monica,
you may be interrested in knowing that these soldiers are going to have a second life (at least their copies, of course) in a recreational park in Portugal, called Quinta Dos Louridos Buddha Eden Park (opening in July 2009): you can see one of them here in my galery!
Thanks for sharing,
Best regards,
Pascal
