Photographer’s Note
I was prompted to post this shot after critiquing Mike Schwebag’s posting on a similar theme; a man, a woman and a lake, all held together with strong back-lighting.
I think Mikes picture has more visual interest, whereas mine is a little more subtle, because somehow I get the feeling that this is not just an ordinary friendship but something more special.
I feel a sort of warmth radiating from these two figures, a certain closeness that doesn't need to be visual, they just look as if they belong together.

you see friendship but i see something sinister here..... its funny how two people can look at an image and get two different feelings from it.. but thats what i get; they are shadowy men on a shadowy planet......
compositionally i think its lacking; i try not to be a stickler for the rules but in this case having your subject right smack dab in the middle hampers the impact of the photo...maybe thats because of the feeling i have for the subject, like they should be lurking in the shadows more....
but personally i feel that the space on the right of the photo is dead and it would be better to have your subjects on the right with more empty space on the left..
take care,
steve

Hi Terry,
Finally I saw that famous shot ;-)
To a certain point I agree with Steve, if the grl was only standing a bit more straight and less relaxed, it could really be a sinster scene like a deal between criminals on a pier ... funny how feelings go ...
There are some things that bother me however: first I don't really understand where this square on the bootom left comes from ? Why did you add this ?
Then framing the scene with trees can be a good idea, but here the small branches on the left spoil it a bit in my view.
Greetings, Mike
