Yangtze River originate in the Tuotuo River,and named Changjiang River when joints the rivers of Dangqu and Chumaerhe. After passing the Sichuan Basin, and accepting the rivers of Minjiang, Tuojiang, Jialingjiang, Wujiang, etc., the turblent river cut its way through the mountains, creating a zigzag and deep corridor between sheer cliffs-- the Yangtze Three gorges well known throughout the world.
The Yangtze Three Gorges starts from the Baidicheng Castle of Fengjie Country, Chongqing Municipality in the west and ends at Nanjing Col of Yichang City, Hubei province in the east, over nearly 200km in length, and composed of Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. The beauty of Three Gorges immersed in the spectacular peaks, dangerous shoal, grotesque cave, and secluded valley.
But now, because of the dam what is introduced on the book opening in the picture, the water is blocked in the end of Three Gorges: Yichang, the water lever of the Three Gorges is getting increasing, all the natural beauty disappeared, there is no gorge, only wide river passing through quiet mountains. And a great dam is showing you how power the human can be.
Only when you open a classic poems book, you can still find the Splendid Three Gorges!
