This was taken from the fourth stage of the five stage shiplock on the Three Gorges Dam. Again the weather was cloudy and overcast, but the views were glorious!

Although I loved my time in China, this dam gave me grave concerns about the environment as there are thousands of metres of land being flooded and I'm unsure whether it will be for the greater good in the future.

Hi Wilson,
Many of us are familiar with the chaos of electric wires in some parts of the world, but that happens more often on the walls, so it is funny to see that happen in an open view like this. Certainly not pretty, but interesting. Despite the overcast and hazy weather, we can appreciate the grandeur of the valley and the high hills. The POV is very advantageous and you took good profit of it to make a great compo.
Have nice WE.
Regards, José.

Hi Wilson!
Usually I hate those wires on images, but here they work well for the composition and give a nice effect.Excellent POV for this one.

Hello Wilson

Hello Wilson,
I cannot understand the raison d'être of so many cables to pass at the same time in parallel with the air bridge. But the view of these electrical wires,i think work well, complete and fill the background Mt.Well done Wilson.

Have a nice Sunday,Danos

Hi Wilson,
if someone has good ideas and always knows how to help, you would call him in German: You are heavy on the wire . Here the wire is heavy on you. What a view and amount of wires. Well done from a good high POV.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Wilson, splendid bridge and beautiful mountain, fantastic composition very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Wilson,
Great idea for a photo and the result is very nice and surprising with the many wires, all together creating a great effect. The wires are also in a nice play together with the bridge, one with cables too, but in a different direction, just as the pylons, and with an opposite colour. Nice hazy view of the background too with the mountain peaks in the top of the photo. Very good work, thanks for sharing!
Regards,
Lars

Hi Wilson, Wires ruin many photos, and it is fun in a way you have turned the tables like this! The view along this large valley is good and your POV is strong. One day the wires may be hidden away, but for now many will be happy to have the power of the wires, so to speak. TFS. Murray.

Good evening Wilson,
the sight is superb... behind the cables of the foreground:) Indeed the manufacturers of this dam are sorcerer's apprentices. It is an irreversible destruction of the habitat of the ones to satisfy the appetite of energy of the others. Excel.

Hi Wilson,
Clear capture of the overdevelopment taking place in China as they race to catch up on industrial progress with the rest of the world. Excellent colors and details crowded river valley with all the wires seen against the ancient mountains in the background.

Wilson,
Very interesting and original compo !
I like a lot, you caught great geometrics, and your framing choices are very good to enhance them.

Hi Wilson,
fine idea and amazing theme. Good captured lines of wires, nice bridge in BG. Good work. I like it.

Hello Wilson,
Seems like they produce quite a lot of electricity, no wonder with a system of powerplants like that!
Interesting light, making the bridge and a part of the mountain stand out so well...

Hi Wilson.
Still the sun manage to get through. The wires form a remarkable part of this view, so vertically divided over the entire picture.
Regards, Gerrit

It's happening all over the world as more industry and increasing populations greed after more scarce resources. :(
Although the light was hazy there is an appealing glow to it especially on the upper mountains. You have actually managed to make a feature out of the power cables. Now sit back and wait for someone to suggest cloning them out! ;D
Well done
Kath

Hello wilson,

very good picture instead of the wires in your shot.Often we try to avoid this cables but this time they are an element of your good composition.Well done.

I agree with those saying this not a pretty picture, but it is a very orignal shot that has a lot to tell. The lanscape is not ugly at all though and your composition and POV are excellent. Thank you for sharing this unusal and fascinating shot.

Hi Wilson!
Seems I need to return there to see this Dam, that's something I really want to, but I must confess I'm afraid of feelig the same way as you did, because it must be somethng really huge.
Wires are everywhere there and I think you got a good and unusual composition with them. I also like the boat passing under the bridge.

Bonjour Wilson,

Hi Wilson,

It is true that these electric wires are not aesthetic but that has the merit to make an original and unusual photograph. This view from above on the bridge is impressive. An interesting image, well seen Wilson.

With all my friendships and a very good evening,

Jean-Charles

Hi Wilson,
good idea for this pov and good use with all these lines, interesting result, well taken.

Hi Wilson,

The different type of lines in the image are an asset to the composition. The mountains in the background are taking are our eyes towards them. The Three Gorges Dam has been a big issue of developpement in China. have a nice day.

Pierre

Wow, a nice composition of lines with the bridge in good contrast. Impressive for me is the landscape in the background. Welldone.
Best wishes,
Achim

A nice idea for a original view, fine work Wilson,
compliments!!

Hi, Wilson. Though I don't usually like electric cables in pictures, I understand you've chosen to include them in your picture. Everything is sacrificed to modernity, nature does not matter any more. I think that's the message you wanted to convey and in that case your picture is a very efficient one.

Bonjour Wilson,
Amicalement
Jean-Luc

Hi Wilson,
There is a strong graphism in this setting, by the nice geometry of the bridge and by the cables that cross the photo across, with the mountains and the sky in background.
It is a very interesting work and with good visual effect.

Josep

Hello Wilson,
a very original point of view enhancing the focus on this incredible number of wires everywhere. I am afraid that your concerns about the future may be right...
Have a nice week-end
Best regards, Christian

Wilson,
I have never been there, but from all the things that I read about this mega daming I also have some serios issues and questions regarding the benefit of it. The same applies to the Itaipu dam in Brazil and many other mega projects. The image? A very interesting one with all the wires complementing the suspension bridge in the background. POV from the 4th stage shiplock? Wow, that looks extremely high compared to the "little" boat down there.
Peter

Hi Wilson,
It is interesting that you have mentioned this controversial dam in China. No doubt it will be an environmental disaster, but bureaucrats and politicians never listen to reason. Scientists and environmentalists warned about the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, near page Arizona, and now their warnings are finally being heeded (an article was just published about this dilemma in last week's paper). Engineers are trying to figure out how to undo some the environmental damage that daming the Colorado River has done here (with partial success) not to mention the damage done downstream by the Hoover Dam. I hope that the Chinese government and engineers know what they are doing (I doubt it). Your concerns are well founded. Excellent documentary portrait of modern China!
Stan

Hi Wilson
If you cannot remove wires, you should use them to the composition :). Very interesting, both framing and perspective at the background mountains.

Hi Wilson. That certainly is a maze of wires! The filtered light gives a soft light which sits well with this scene. Well composed and thanks for sharing.

Hello Wilson

I hate power cables because infringe on the aesthetics of the scenarios, but I have to say here that causes a feeling of the graphics very gratifying.

You know seize these horizontal elements to achieve a wonderful composition, depth and good use of lighting. Excellent, friend.
