Photographer’s Note

10.23 a.m. - While travelling along the Shennong stream one can be mesmerized by the attractions of the riverside scenery and when it is raining it’s like a splash of water colours using the wet-on-wet technique across the canvas. That’s exactly what I wished to show here.

Sprawled along this stream are three smaller gorges called Mianzhu, Yingwu and Longchang. Mianzhu gorge is famous for its precipitous rocky cliffs while the Yingwu gorge is for those who love natural beauty like flowers, green hills, lava like terraced fields and caves. Longchang gorge on the other hand is proud of its magnificient steep rocky cliffs, deep gullies and traces of ancient battles. However, with the rising water level due to the dam these cliffs are slowly loosing height. Interestingly, life for the people here is still simple and peaceful as shown by the little boat and the fishermen. If you are cruising along the Yangtze, then the Shennong stream is an interesting stop.
