Photographer’s Note
10.23 a.m. - While travelling along the Shennong stream one can be mesmerized by the attractions of the riverside scenery and when it is raining it’s like a splash of water colours using the wet-on-wet technique across the canvas. That’s exactly what I wished to show here.
Sprawled along this stream are three smaller gorges called Mianzhu, Yingwu and Longchang. Mianzhu gorge is famous for its precipitous rocky cliffs while the Yingwu gorge is for those who love natural beauty like flowers, green hills, lava like terraced fields and caves. Longchang gorge on the other hand is proud of its magnificient steep rocky cliffs, deep gullies and traces of ancient battles. However, with the rising water level due to the dam these cliffs are slowly loosing height. Interestingly, life for the people here is still simple and peaceful as shown by the little boat and the fishermen. If you are cruising along the Yangtze, then the Shennong stream is an interesting stop.

Hello Aloysius,
Maybe the best composition wise from your river cruice!
You create a superb feeling of depth by an effective use of foreground, and the two guys in the boat is a strong element...
The haze adds to the mysterious atmosphere!

Definitely, this could be classified as a painting. It is a real piece of art. I do not know why but this kind of scenery can only be seen in China. It is simply wonderful. Congratulations.

Hi Aloysius. You know the more I see of Chinese scenery like this the more I want to go one day. The people in the boat add so much as do the clouds. Wonderful shot Aloysius!!

Hello Aloysius
Hope you are fine! This is a beauty with the layers of mountains & the boat just perfectly placed in the lovely waters. This indeed looks like a Chinese watercolour..amazingly peaceful even just to see.

Hi Al,
I do like the misty colors here; the sharp detail of the boat silhouette completes the photo.
Your daughter is a cutie; hope to look at their websites on Treklens soon. HLJ, Pat

I imagine the peace, the silence, the serenity of the place. The still water is even an expression of that ! You maybe could have avoided to cut the moutains top, but that's a detail.

Hi Aloysius,
Indeed a painting and an enchanting scene. The little boat with the two silhouetted figures really makes it sizzle. I also like the fine detail of the foliage in the foreground. The houses on the hills to the left help balance the frame nicely, while the misty clouds hover and provide great ambience. A very fine capture...later.
