[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When I was in China, many interesting places were renovated and I was often angry that I could not see them properly. It was the case also in Luoyang. The main Budda statue was covered with scaffolding. But it had also one advantage - the people working indicate the scale, the statue is really huge.

The Longmen Grottoes are located 12 km south of present day Luoyang in Henan province, China. The grottoes, which overwhelmingly depict Buddhist subjects, are densely dotted along the two mountains: Xiangshan (to the east) and Longmenshan (to the west). The Yi River flows northward between them. From north to south, the distance covered by grottoes is about one km. Along with the Mogao Caves and Yungang Grottoes, the Longmen Grottoes are one of the three most famous ancient sculptural sites in China.
There are 100,000 Buddhist images at the site. Most of the caves date from 316 to 907 CE, represents the zenith of stone carving in China.

Ciao Malgorzata,
Ciao e buon primo maggio
Paolo.

Czesc Gosia!

To rusztowanie jest tak samo interesujace jak i sam posag, ladny strzyl.

Hello Malgorzata,

This is a frustrating sight for a photographer who passes there maybe once in a lifetime, but you managed to walk away with an interesting picture anyway. Great work (just as the restauration turned out to be, I passed there about a year later).

Super posąg. Niesamowite rusztowania. Ciekawe zdjęcie.
Pozdrowienia.

Hej,
Fajne poczucie skali i kontrast miedzy wiekowym posagiem i wspolczesnymi (?) metalowymi rusztowaniami, ciekawe zdjecie,
pozdrawiam,
Tomek

Hello Malgorzata,

Fabulous image, and indeed the artisans working on the scaffolding represent effective measuring rods. In 1983, when I visited China, the scaffolding was mostly of bamboo. This looks a little sturdier. Do your remember in the Bamyan Budha statues destroyed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. (There is limit to genius, but none whatsoever to ignorance.)

Warm regards,

Bulent

Malgorzata,
This is an intereting shot. It is hard to avoid renovation. It seem everywhere I go there's working on some of the monument I come to see. But we all try to make the best of it. You did well here. It acutually is interesting as if it was fence in. Technically all if good. Thank
Way
