Tang An Village and Drum Tower Photo

Photographer’s Note

I loved Tang an village, and I advice people who want to visit central China to go to Zhaoxing and to the villages in that area. Tang an people lives around a beautiful square. Up the slope there is a pond and this magnificent "Drum tower". Not far from this square is possible to admire a gorgeus perspective of "terraced fields".

Drum tower are wooden buildings where people gathered when there was some danger, enemies, or other. Drums were used to call people. Drum towers are open, and we can see Dong's people great skill in wood constructions observing the roof and every detail.

I wish to post also some details of this picture, to show you village life and of the painted tower.

It's great to see some photos of these kinds of places. I am planning a trip to eastern Guizhou in August, and I will be going to such places. Eventually I might be posting photos of the same places.

Ciao Livia,
Nice to see you got the chance to discover central China, on my upcoming trip I won't have time to get beyond Guangzhou from HK. This is a nice contribution to the TE purpose, with a good curvy perspective of these stairs leading the eye to this colorful tower, seems to me it has an attractive and fine design, but it's a bit far to see details well. I like the people too, they add life and context to the scene, I'm wondering how they react towards the foreign visitors, I believe there are still not too many foreigners venturing in that area yet ?
