| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Last year i was involved in delivering a programme of consultation through a creative process to three communities in the Chinese city of Chongqing. This was organised through the British Council and involved over 1,500 people expressing their views, hopes and concerns about their lives.
The community of Ciqikou provides a backdrop to one of Chongqing's main internal tourist attractions - the ancient town is awash with commercial enterprise - but behind the scenes the relative tranquility of this community is a delight. Even the local policewoman to the left of the image took part in the consultation and people were so welcoming and open........but then again behind me above the board on which the consultations were posted 'someone' had hung a large and imposing portrait of Chairman Mao................ |

Kev,
I've been consulting a lot in China as well. You are right about the people "so welcoming and open." At the same time, your photo reminds me of how concentrated things are. Reminds me of getting on an elevator or trying to cross the street. Always somewhat chaotic. You capture a very nice angle and black & white is always a good effect when photographing people.
Best regards,

Good POV and action captured. I like it.

Hi Kev,
Good note with an interesting, and at the same time predictable, final line. Funny :-). A very humane photograph and the black and white working well here.
Greetings,
Dennis
Hello Kev,
Very interesting subject, extremely difficult to get such a good one, and I appreciate your low angle. I think I know how you manage them, thgis is your specialty - Izzet
The questioning (even anxious) look of those women is visible.
I have the impression of revisiting Chongqing through your eyes - a quiet and peaceful photo, in a way.
I like it, compliments,
Cath.
