6.42 a.m. - The three gorges along the Yangtze River is one of the 10 major scenic and historical sites in China. I took a cruise down this great river from Chongqing after visiting Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou, The cruise is a 192 km ride down the Yangtze passing through three gorges – Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. The cruise ended at Yichang City in Hubei Province with a tour around the famous Three Gorges Dam.

This shot was taken as we were entering the Qutang Gorge which is about 8 km long. It was 6.42 a.m. and sadly it was raining too. I had to take the shots with my camera under an umbrella. The boat you can see here is another cruise ship similar to the one I am in.

Hi Aloysius,
Good to see you posting again, and Happy New Year...This is a dramatic perspective, with the clouds providing great atmosphere and the muddy brown water of the river well seen. The boat nicely balances the scene and provides a key focal point. It looks like some of these cruise ships are quite large. A fascinating area to explore. Well captured.

Hi Aloysius,

A excellent perspective, you chose a very well angle, lovely between the mountains, you placing the ferry very well in middle of your image, the hills of the rocks give a lovely V form, one small point, the white sky, but not directly disturbing. Very well done!

Have a nice weekend,
John.

Despite the noise, the atmosphere is strong there, with that boat getting out of nowhere... Must have been a impressive trip.

Hello Aloysius,
Interesting river cruise, 192 km with great photo opportunities!
Well composed image with strong diagonal lines, very good sense of depth...
The ship ahead makes a good eye-catcher, as it is captured with great detail!
Greetings,
Pablo -
