| We caught the boat from Chongqing to Yichang. Along the way it stopped at various sites and we got off to look. This shot was taken from Fengdu, the Ghost City. Across the river you can see how the township has been pulled back from the river, to accommodate the fact that the Yangtze will rise over 150m as a result of the Three Gorges dam. In the foreground are abandoned houses which will, ultimately, be covered by river. They were being pulled down, piece by piece, by gangs of locals. |
