When in Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) one must plan enough time to explore the many beautiful areas of it. One of the must do for me is to hike down the West Sea Canyon. When you got to this point, you're already 2 hours down, do you continue on this trail along a stiff cliff like this or do you turn around and go back?
See WS for another view
Consider how many tourist are here, but this trail is rather empty. It is a long hike 4-6 hours depending on your speed, you go down first and up. You will have to cross many of this stairways and path that is extended out from the steep cliff of the canyon wall. I was still trying to calm myself down from having passed this stairway.
Many tourists come to Huang Shan stay only one day and some stay two days at most, and only visited different viewpoints on the top. To truly explore the area, you should take your time to hike up stay 3 days, if you want to spend more time up here, take the cable tram down to save some time and the stairs are brutal for the Knees going down.

The picture looks somewhat grainy, but the scene is breathtaking and the narrative is as educative and informative as one can be.

Fantastic place for people that suffer vertigo...Amazing shot! The presence of people is fundamental here to see the huge dimensiones of the mountain.

Une très belle composition, le pasage accroché contre la paroi rocheuse est impressionnante.
Bien cadré avec la présence humaine.

Hello Way, very good photo of this impressive way stapled to the wall, nice view of the wall with plants in their cracks. Good composition and performance, with technical expertise. Very good and interesting job, so congratulations my friend. Good day and happy week. Tfs.
macjake (45588) 2012-04-10 11:05
wow, thats quite the view.
seems like its the type of walk that would get your heart pumping - and thats just out of fear! :)
having the white wood scramble down the frame keeps the eyes busy for the viewer.
rychem (13720) 2012-04-10 11:14
Excellent shot, nice composition with diagonal line of the stairs, beautiful place, informative note
brianmcc (5818) 2012-04-10 11:28
what a fantastic walkway. it looks like something out of an adventure film. you have composed this very well with the white railing well placed in the frame and leading through the picture.
marina7 (7162) 2012-04-10 11:39
now that is scary! But I'd love to go along that trail, the setting is unbelievable! Excellent point of view and details. Great work!

When I was in China I climbed the Mt. Huashan (near Xian). This picture reminds me a bit that climb but I have to confess that the view here looks even more impressive.
Exploring Huang Shan must be one of the highlights of a visit of China.
What we see here is absolutely breathtaking and very attractive to me.
The picture is well composed. The few autumn colours of the trees growing on the steep mountain slope colour the grey rocks beautifully.
Best regards, Paul

Excellent shot of this unique and wonderful path. It looks really challenging! To go, for sure!:) Well done!
Jeppo (17635) 2012-04-10 12:33
to go! that's the question. such a particular track is so inviting....I'd be so curious
Sonata11 (31245) 2012-04-10 12:41
a very beautiful picturesque shot of this incredible place using wonderful POV and DOF. Great colors, sharpness, clarity. I really enjoy this composition which is wonderfully executed and it's pleasure and the same time scary to look at this view. Thanks for sharing and informative note. Perfectly well done.
All the best,

Quite stunning stairway. Looking at the foreground details, I see it is very carefully built, I hope the same goes with maintenance too! Going for such on effort on building assures me there's great views ahead too. Still I'm not sure how far a lazy guy like me would want to go.
Excellent perspective, and those persons are on exactly right places.
rigoletto (32768) 2012-04-10 13:14
I really like walking, but i'd rather go for a historic city center rather than this seemingly endless jeopardy :)
There are even verisons of this (as far as i know, in Chile) where lorries drive versus high cliffs.
Very good and effective cadrage. I love the white zigzags.
saxo042 (33934) 2012-04-10 13:44
Yes, this is the question! I would indeed hesitate before I would put my feet along this path but I would probably walk along here. A fascinating picture and a very impressive and beautiful landscape!
carlo62 (19485) 2012-04-10 14:42
Una foto molto descrittiva, con le persone che danno le giuste dimensioni.
La nota è molto bella e descrive molto bene il tutto.
Ottimo il taglio e la nitidezza.
emka (64182) 2012-04-10 23:43
Hi Way, it is the fantastic view, amazing, but my answer would be not to go. I am shivering just looking at the photo. You were very brave to go there. Well, after you have done it and you survived (probably it was not dangerous), you musgt be very happy. Breathtaking shot. The man on the left seems not so sure of if he should go there.
jjcordier (67292) 2012-04-11 0:03
Telle est effectivement la question.....pour moi, c'est non!Magnifique photo de cet endroit vraiment très impressionnant.
lousat (64243) 2012-04-11 1:42
Hi Way,not the best place for who suffers from vertigo like me...eheehe....but 2 fantastic pics, what a magic atmosphere and what a spectacular view,i like your pic,the super quality and the big white border that it's like your signature..eeehe..Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano
CLODO (26472) 2012-04-11 2:29
A perfect place for me! nice framing including the 2 tourists with their rucksack on the back, inviting us to walk for hours along the steep cliff.
So the answer is GO!
everlasting (14023) 2012-04-11 3:44
Not a walk for the faint hearted, but I think I would go:)
Very carefully composed using the corner and the diagonal. The walkers have to be included here to give the scale. Nice Way
ChrisJ (91292) 2012-04-11 4:06
I see no grain, only texture in the stone rails & cliff face. Sharpness is perfect & the people add scale. The Autumn colors of gold contrast superbly against the blue tinted streaks in the rock face. I would go to the distant cave taking care to watch for cracks and missing planks! Tfs!
patdeph (35744) 2012-04-11 12:35
spectacular place , it must be impressive to walk on this structure.I think I would love it!Magnificent!
sevy (14313) 2012-04-12 1:28
Nice shot, I would have like to be there. It seems to be a nice hike.
Good composition, including the hikers at start of the trail to make us participate to the action.
It is good the fence is easy to see in the cliff.
jhm (128073) 2012-04-12 3:44
I think that a lot people these narrow gangway not dares to use.
Both picture are very well taken, perhaps I like it the second picture with the details the most beautiful
You chose an excellent angle with a wonderful result.
Nice depth and perspective.
Very well done, TFS.
delpeoples (48660) 2012-04-13 3:13
Wow. You could pay me $1,000 and I would still not walk on that walkway! So I'm very glad you did the hard bit for us. And on top of that deliver a fantastic photo. This is so unusual, really eye-catching and demonstrates perfectly the steepness of the cliff. Yikes, you're brave. congratulations for being a brave naughty boy and for giving us such a great photo under such difficult conditions.
Have a lovely weekend
Cricri (92249) 2012-04-13 5:32
Une traverser pas des plus facile et fatiguante a en lire la note! mais cela en vaut sûrement la peine a en voir la vue spectaculaire du haut de ces falaises, superbe aussi le WS, excellent POV
adores (30841) 2012-04-13 16:15
You have done that:)? One really needs to be brave:)! The place seems really impressive! I like your pov and the presence of the people there! And the Ws is also great!- It really shows how high this is! Very good quality, as usual!
berek (32071) 2012-04-13 20:19
nature is very impressive. rocks looks amazing. I wish I was there now. congratulations.
I wish a good weekend.
rabdelnoor (3421) 2012-04-14 20:41
A really breathtaking scene. I guess must be an amazing tour. Maybe someday I can try it. You captured it from a great POV showing how insignificant we are comparing to nature. VEry well done.
holmertz (31340) 2012-04-15 9:53
I think I wouldn't feel really comfortable walking this way. Maybe I'd better just watch this photo. I don't know how much further up or down this almost vertical mountain-side stretches, but at least the cropping gives an impression of horrifying heights in both directions. The white railings give very good depth to the picture and also give us a good idea of the roughness of the mountain-side and the steepness of the climb.
mkamionka (27089) 2012-04-16 14:21
it looks really scary and your compo enhances the feeling. I like the foggy touch. The passage makes a nice curve across the frame. Very well spotted, excellent idea!
shevchenko (18725) 2012-04-17 3:14
Good frame to show the plank Road that built on the steep cliff, feel affraid while I see it, the space below the fence is enough big for a people slide down and fall down to the cliff if they do not walk carefully. Informative note an valuable travel experience, thanks for sharing.

Very nice shoot. Also i can imagine that it is extremely dangerous!Great POV and perfect frame!Very nice details and useful note!
kiks (11601) 2012-04-18 8:47
Wow...what a place. I can imagine that you have to do effort to stay calm here. Your WS illustrate good how high this is.
siolaw (37642) 2012-04-18 8:55
That looks like a steep drop! Not for everyone to go there i suppose! You show a nice side view of the path with nice textures and colours.
Interesting note too.
zanzi (13040) 2012-04-19 12:47
Another brilliant one...
I'm jealous :-)
Great note too.
axiotea (21647) 2012-04-20 6:18
I think I like both of the photos, even they look a bit "grainy" ;) Your pov really shows how looks this area which is pretty vertiginous!
After reading your note, I understand better the title :)
All the best
dta (56746) 2012-04-20 12:36
Hello Way ,
This is a fantastic way built along the impressive and vertiginous cliffs . This is a spectacular place , and also a fine graphical composition , with beautiful autumn colors of the few trees growing in the rocks .
abmdsudi (32515) 2012-04-21 3:32
This spectacular site, a majestic view closeup will leave you speechless but it looks tricky and rather perilous as you trek down the walkway hang off the edge of the cliff face, but sure worth every minute of hassle. Must be most rewarding adventure as shown here but a long way more to go! They walk on the most seemingly impossible place and it looks wonderful the way you've caught it. Nice contrast and textures with the green and the different colours in the rock face. Dynamic compo with dose of vertigo, the tiny figures give a sense of the immense scale. Stunnng capture, Well done. Have a great WE
danos (78134) 2012-04-22 0:47
breathtaking the view of the place, as the courage that someone should has,to explore this side of the very narrow alley,of the vertical Mt. with the stairs to help someone to see and admire the unprecedented beauty of the place. Excellent presentation.
sacavem (18604) 2012-04-23 9:29
Very nice landscape shot. Magical scenery. Grand perspective.
Vague (301) 2012-04-27 1:42
Another amazing shot! But, somehow, I feel the corner of the rail closest to the viewer (bottom-left) limits the overall effect.
(...anyway, I guess you couldn't take the shot from a different angle.)
ebingul (1814) 2012-04-28 12:25
A breathtaking shot from a breathtaking POV.Fine colours and perspective.Although it is a fantastic place, for me it is not to go...
Well done and best regards,
maloutim (9479) 2012-04-29 4:27
Looking at this photo made me think of two diaporamas that were sent to me on Internet : One on Shifu Mountain, Hunan, where they are building a cliff-side path in incredible conditions ! I believe the Chinese suffer from heights less than any other people. Better for them.
I have another diaporama on the monastery of Mount Hengshan, North Shanxi, built on the cliff-side too.
The composition of your photo is great, with a good POV on the verticality of the cliff, and the vertiginous path.
Happy shot nevertheless, with two trekers who seem to enjoy their walk and the cheerful vegetation.
npecanhuk (56372) 2012-05-09 0:25
Wow! What a place! I'd be a bit scared walking there, but that'd be wonderful!
Very interesting, attractive and beautiful picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,
Angshu (52936) 2012-05-10 21:43
Not the best of lights you got here, but the view is breathtaking. The path way is certainly not for the weakhearted as it hugs along the steep height of the cliff. Like the yellow foliage growing out from the rocks.
Have a great weekend!
serp2000 (33201) 2012-05-12 0:34
Woooow! Impressive view... So extremal walking... Outstanding presentation, excellent point of view. TFS!
I like your WS version too, but this horizontal view more effect.
jmdias (48373) 2012-05-23 2:28
I had seen some views from this place before but it is ever impressive and this compo is fantastic. I liked the graphism of the stairs waving in the edge of the slope and abyss. very nice inclusion of the personages. TFS.
nikkitta (9003) 2012-05-25 11:21
What a decision to made and very great place to be, quite a challenge
Great POV to show the more of the trail
Very interesting and informative note to keep in mind
Greetings and TFS

What's more exciting to walk into this hallway hung from the vacuum. This place is idyllic to raise the adrenaline. You have found another fantastic place.
fabbs99 (11190) 2012-10-24 5:20
The view of the yellow mountain and this special walkway is unique. The colors of the rock on the slope has been is mixed with that of the plants and looks very warm. The sharpness and light are perfect.well done.TFS.
adidas5nb (2911) 2013-05-01 19:48
this looks interesting, and must have been a hair raising experience.odd pathway clicked nicely, with enough space on the top half of the pic given to the mountain to show how steep it is.the people walking completes the pic.
tatadalou (3979) 2013-05-21 22:02
Stunning view ! This trail looks really spectacular and I understand that people can hesitate before walking on it. What I like most in your picture is the parcimonious touches of green, that enlightens this rocky view.
