[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the old hotel (Bokor Palace) which is part of the old French Bokor hill station. It is situated in the Bokor national park and is at an elevation of 1080m. It takes several hours to get up there on a really terrible road.
The hill station was abandoned when the Vietnamese and Khmer Issarak (free Khmer)forces overran it in the late 1940's while fighting for independance against the French, and then again it was abandoned in the early 1970's when the Lon Nol regime left it to the Khmer Rouge forces. It has remained uninhabited since.
-Information fron Lonely Planet Cambodia.
You get a very eerie feeling when you are inside these ruins, and I could picture what it must have been like in its heyday. There is even a ballroom.
The Bokor hill station has the Hotel, casino, old Catholic church, water tower and post office.

Interesting how an old, ruined building can cause such an effect on people. I imagine tis was a very elegant building long ago. It has a nice outside design. Nice picture. I like your perspective and note regarding the hotel. Thanks Wanda.

Roberto

Hey Wanda,
I am planning to visit Cambodia and your recent series looks very interesting. The ruins and the note are an education. I haven't read about this place, perhaps too touristy yet?
Cheers
Matt

Wow.... waht a strange feeling with this ruined building. I really like your perspective here, the textures on the wall, the colours of decay together with the grass. Unique!

Hi Wanda,
no beautiful subject but capture. Well done with a good POV and great colours. This will be a research object for the future to explore our time.

That sure looks stark and shorn of life. There's a sense of eerie calm about this place which you've done well to spot and compose like the way you have. I love the tones and the hues. the story behind the place is inteesting and informative. Something we, in the outside world never get to know or hear.

Hi Wanda,
I visited this interesting place last june and I remember so well the terrible road!
I must say you choosed a POV I haven't thought about... and it's very good.
Very good tones.

Hi Wanda,
Looking at it raises a feeling hard to describe. I think that it reminds us how ephemeral human grandeur and luxury are. The guest of 70 years ago certainly wouldn't imagine that the place could look like this only two generations afterwards.
The perspective, the textures and the rests of painting make it an impressive image.
I just wonder if it wouldn't have been better to include the whole building instead of letting out the right end.
Regards, José.

hello Wanda,
good note, nice photo of the old building, it was surely a beautiful one before, now it's ruined but interesting to photography, indeed the forms and the colours are interesting, well caught

Wanda,
Eerie indeed, but maybe with many oportunities for photography.... I learnt something new today. When I went to Cambodia probably this place was off limits for tourist.
Very nice POV and sharpness.

Hi Wanda!
Thanks for very interesting and informative note. The capture of the hotel's ruins is very well taken. Good natural colours and sharp details. Very well done. Thanks for sharing

Hello Wanda,

I have to go out, but first I must leave a note on this shot, it's fantastic. It never occurred to me before, but film-makers and photographers could easily use TE as a source for sets, backdrops and places to shoot. It already looks like a cd cover. Brilliant
