Yes, It works, Ian. Wonderful shot, excellent contrast. Upu did everything perfect here - light, position of the woman in the frame, the black background, sharpness, and above al - you captured a very interesting subject, with an interesting expression.

I am amazed not only by the photo, but also the fact that someone on TE identifies her - a truely global community. In particular I enjoy the off-centre compo, and the silvery shine. Great job.

Wow, it seems everyone has a shot of her. I know I have a few too. I like yours very much. Really nice b&w work, although my personal tastes would be towards a grainier (and faster) film. Good work.

WOW, what a superb portrait Ian, I think the mild blur adds to the intensity of the shot. Well done

J'aime beaucoup ce portrait bien affirmé. Le choix de cadrage à droite est réussi mettant bien en valeur le contraste entre le noir du fond et le blanc de l'habit. Le visage est lui aussi très déterminé.

I like the lady place all the way to the right w/ the expanse of black on the left. I like the contrast in her face but maybe the highlights are a tad blown out? However, it works nicely.
