Photographer’s Note
back to my pictures from cambodia :)
When I browsed the pictures from Cambodia, I found that I have met this famous lady of Bayon, whose pictures appear at many pictures of the ones who came to Bayon temple.
Unfortunately, she was not smiling when I caught her, though she then smiled (and laughed) when she saw one of her friend 'posed' for my friends.

Hi Cessy. Yes she has indeed become a TE celebrity in her own right. This is a nice take, smiling or not, for the way in which she is standing in between the engraved pillars and walls. Good offcentering, and nice how her bright gown is making her stand out even more. Greetings from Kyoto.

Hi Cessy,
She seems so especial, I like the fact she is not smilling completelly, but I do see a kind of smile we see on budhas faces, more contemplative. I like her natural pose. The composition is also good, the light is the element that was not much in your favor, but still a good photo.
Regards,
Flavia

Hi Cessy, you know the most interesting thing in this picture is that you compare between the "apsara" and the the old lady. Apsara is female, and so is the old lady. Great capture. It is quite original. Good work. Sothy

Hi Cessy. Actually I think the expression you're getting here is much more realistic. I like her pose as well as the sharpness and colors. You did a good job with the composition too. Great shot Cessy!

As you so rightly say, she has become one of the most photographed ladies on TE. Even without her smiling, this is a nice compostion, the way she stands so casually between the engraved pillars and walls. Her birght robes looks great against the textured background.

Hi Cessy,
I like these Cambodian series of yours, here again despite the lack of smile this is a nice capture of a person between the ancient stones, you can consider yourself lucky this lady has such white clothes because they provide here a great contrast against the stone and contribute much to the impact of your photo.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hello Cessy
Very nice scene, I like the way she is wrapped by the stone columns. The contrast between her white robe and the gray walls is excellent. Maybe it would look good in black and white too.

Hi Cessy,
Great capture... almost like an apparition among the pillars of the temple. The fact she is dressed in white makes her stand out all the better in the grey environment. And I don't really mind that is not smiling or laughing... it makes the "ambiance" even more myterious.
Have a nice evening.

Hi, Cessy. The nun is nicely framed between the pillars of the temple. Besides, the contrast between her white clothes and the dark pillars works very well. The details are very interesting to look at.

Hi Cessy,
beautiful capture. She stands there like a kind of goast in her white dress, like coming of a different world. Beautiful even these lod walls.
A great composition,

Great! The positioning of the lady in white is perfect. It seems to be a continuation of the two godesses carved in stone. It gives almost the impression that you got a godess alive in white here.

Hi Cessy.
She really is becoming famous thanks to TE.
Despite the slightly unusual format (neither square nor 4:3) what is good here is how you made a very good line of those two statues, then the woman and finally the broken column. If that is not a good crop, I don't know what is :)
all the best, Aleks

I like where she is positioned, good framing and soft light.

Hi cessy
Good juxtapositioning of the old Cambodian lady, against the nubile Apsara dancer sculptures of Angkor Wat. Bagus sekali!

Hi Cessy,
The large format here is most apropos, with the robe of the lady contrasting so well with the darker columns and facade of the temple. The clarity of detail is so good that one can discern every fold in her robe and indeed appreciate the ornate carvings of the temple facade. Your POV is ideal. This is a most impressive shot, a real keeper.

Hola Cessy...this is a very "moving" capture...full of sensibility. The contrast between the lovely lady in white and that awesome architecture with such level of detail are awesome.
Excelente !

Bonsoir Cessy
Cette femme respire la sainteté, la simplicité, la modestie et elle mérite beaucoup de respect.
Intéressante composition dans cet environnement architectural.
J'apprécie beaucoup.

Well done compo cessy. The tight crop around the lady is good to have her standing out from the sourondings. Her 'posing' good for just this kind of shots.

Hi Cessy,
Thats a beautiful picture..the lady seems so godly..at peace and adds life to what seems like a not so live temple.Love the tones and the details..the warm around the lady..juxtaposed with the stark greyness of the temple makes her even more magical

I like to sometimes browse back through your gallery, Cessy, as I always find a gem that I didn't spot before - and this is one such gem. I don't think it matters that she was not smiling - in fact I like the fact that her expression is very similar to those of the faces of the stone carvings - and her pose is similar too. I like how she stands out from the subdued tones of the rest of the image. Cheers . . . David
