Photographer’s Note
Yet another sunrise pic of Angkor Wat. Yes, I know. There are probably hundreds here at TE but, most photographers, I feel, want their own version. After all the ruins of Angkor Wat are very photogenic.
Angkor Wat (or Angkor Vat) is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built for king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. The largest and best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre—first Hindu, then Buddhist—since its foundation. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors. Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temples. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the gods in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 km (2.2 miles) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is orientated to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. As well as for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, the temple is admired for its extensive bas-reliefs and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls. (Wikipedia)

Great photo Danilo. I love silhouette shots of recognizable places. The colors are amazingly saturated. I think your version of Angkor Wat is beautiful, and I agree that most photographers want their own photographs of popular places. Most of my own photo's are of places that have been photographed a zillion times.

Ryan

Hi Danilo,
Superb colours over the Cambodian jungle!
Well, quite a few Angkor images in TE, but I haven't seen many sunsets...
This one is pure joy, well framed and with the characteristic silhouettes in place!
I got an idea for a WS here, maybe later...

Hi Danilo,
There may be hundreds if not thousands of sunset photos here on TE, but this one is among rare ones with such kind of high contrast, deep and rich colours and an excellent silhouetting.
Beautiful work, indeed!
Thanks,
Robi

Hi Danilo,
Great picture. The quality is very good. What grabs my eye are the colours which are not Angkor Wat-like as it is often in full light with the green background. I did not have the opportunity to take nice evening or dawn shots of the Angkor as for the rainy season. Next time I will go in March :) This is a very good one and becomes my favourite just now. Thank you for sharing.

Michal

Hello Danilo
One of the best sunrise shots of Angkor I've seen. The clouds with their vermillion red colours are the most beautiful. I like your framing keeping the mighty Angkor in the bottom left
Superb shot!

Yeas, I was there too like the rest of Siem Reap it seemed for the famed sunrise shot. I like your version with the coloured clouds against the silhoutted Angkor. Good work.

Hi Danilo,
Perhaps there are many versions but I expect that few have such a great sunset; The wonderful color and detail of the clouds streams across the sky. The note is also very interesting.

Classical but OK... The colors of the sky are beautiful. And the temple shadow well captured and off-centered.

Hello Danilo,
a lot of TE friends have been in Angkor Wat, but i never.I hope same day to visit this place and to see this sunset beauty. The subdued light, with the sun still painting pastoral colors in the clouds makes this a marvrellous shot. The silhouettes of the temples, on the foreground make the capture more interesting.Informative your note too.
I wish you a Happy New Year with peace and happiness,Danos
