| While all the tourists were outside watching the sunset, my traveling companion and I decided to stay inside to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Angkor Wat. While exploring the rear of the temple we came across this monk enjoying the evening breeze. He spoke English fairly well and we ended up speaking for about thirty minutes. I don’t recall one person walking past as the three of us spoke. It is times like these that I cherish most while abroad. |

Nice photo James, and great story too. I've mutual memories about the tranquility inside Angkor Wat, and the open friendliness of the monks there. Your photo captures the lighting on the monk just perfectly - warm and soft, which provides a good contrast to the stone textures.
The exposure and sharpness make this photo for me and gives it that 'tranquility.'
Maybe you could crop the photo so that there is less black on the left hand side, and no sky showing on the right hand side.
a very nice image. the light and shades have been well worked out. only if you could tried a compo with the subject bit off center...
Great soft lighting. I like his pose as well, very relaxed. I agree that cropping the top to get rid of the trees would make this even better, thanks
