Photographer’s Note
Hello everyone!
another shot from Stung Mean Chey. This was end of another work day for these two kids and they seemed very happy about it. They danced and performed acrobatic moves before going home. They thought me a valuable lesson: Happiness is not hard to find!
Title was taken from a band which I like alot. You may consider this song ( This is your life) by them as the soundtrack for this photo.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
Cheers,
Skye

Hello Skye. Hope I'm the first of many to enjoy this shot. Funny and entertaining and taken at just the right time, but has a clear photojournalism feel to it. Nice mix of subjects and style.

Hi Skye, yes this a nice photojournalism 'spirit' shot! I love the the light and the BW conversion is equally nice. Bala

This is a very low-contrast shot for B/W, Skye, but it seems to work anyway. I guess it suggests desolateness, and gives a twilight feel. I like the low POV to put their legs against the sky. And the shot certainly illustrates the message in your note! Nice work as always. Regards, Ken.

Hi Skye,
This is a really wonderful photo. I love the great composition and subject matter. It really gives us a sense of hope.
That said, I find the contrast a little flat... maybe this is a result of a straight desaturation instead of channel mixing? Anyway, I had a go at a WS. The differences are fairly subtle (they don't need to be dramatic for such a great photo) but I think they bring out a little more detail.
Thanks. Lewis.

hey Skye...
good shot. the composition is very dynamic. the horizon is probably a little tilted, whic adds to the disorientation capctud in the photograph.
the lack of contrast also makes the ambience a little gloomy, accentuating the mood.
congratulations!

Hi Skye. Such a strange scene. I find it almost absurb... not your photo but the combination of that playful spirit and the joy but combined with the bleak setting of the trash dump. I know that people can find joy everywhere, and that is great. Your timing on this one is great too, for the obvious reasons. The b/w is looking pretty flat and grey... but I see that's already been mentioned.
Take care,
Narayan

Hi Skye,
It is an excellent reporter style picture (with a really appropriate soundtrack, well seen). I think B&W is interesting and enhance the sad atmosphere given by the crap ground and their loneliness in the frame. Moreover, I like the posture of the right guy.
Congratulations, thanks for sharing,
Fan

great shot skye. your photographs from the dumps of cambodia are inspiring and humbling. they're great photos and what you've caught and present is the true nature of Trek Earth's mantra and mission.
the shallow dof here works well to blend the background. and the b&w gives the shot a bleak feeling to match the reality of this life.
thanks for sharing this series of shots. you should make a theme so that people can enjoy them more! :)

Hi Skye
As you say : Happiness is not hard to find! When I think
about the rich children in our countries who have difficulty
in enjoying themselves so they are submerged by toys and
video games it leaves me sceptical... This is a great B&W
shot by the way. Well done!
Cheers

Looks like dumpster-diving, only in style ;-) I'm again impressed. It's a silent life lesson...

Certainly an unusual capture, Skye, and there is definitely a message in this (and your note). Lewis' workshop works quite well to bring out a little more contrast which I think it needed. Your title is very appropriate. Cheers . . . David

Really a great capture of joy in a barren place. I think it also shows how natually happy kids can be; there must be a lesson in there somehow. I like the shot quite a lot, but I think the b&w conversion could be improved. This one is lacking contrast, even some fairly simple levels or curves adjustment would make a big difference for me. Nice shot.

Hi!
Not sure about fun caused by this shot. They look rather meditating under the open sky. B/w makes the picture an illustration for some magazine story.
