Photographer’s Note
Angkor Thom - the temple of Bayon
Climbing over tumbled stones I climbed to the second tier of Bayon. It was from here that one gets the sense of the magnitude of these faces. Everywhere you looked - in every direction, at every possible angle, it seemed - was this huge, peaceful grin, its eyes closed as if in a state of meditation.
I had to take the snap with the sun behind my back to get the blue sky. One may notice the aeroplane just in front of the lips of this huge face, just to understand the magnitude.

hey ang, i was recently in cambodia and i went to bayon too.
this is a nice photo, nice blue colour to the sky and good detail to the face.
your shot is only 52kb, which means that the picture quality is very low. it's very noticable, especially around the area where the sky and face meet.
good photo, just try and keep the jpg quality up so that it doesn't make your photo look poor.
great effort. keep shooting!

I love the way the face is looking straight at the sky like that. It is very powerful.

A very impressive sight of this divine face, however slightly eroded by the ages. Very good compostion.
All the best,

while not a new angle, the idea wa a very good one. it's unfortunate that the quality is SO low. otherwise, the shot would be excellent. nice idea though...

Hi Angshuman,
Doesnt Angkor Wat just amaze everyone who goes there? I saw it in a movie, and I hope to see it real some day.
Couple of things about this picture: Firstly, I like your choice of angle to shoot the face before a good sky. The framing is welldone too. For the other side, there is some distortion/noise in the areas where the face meets the sky, which is very evident even on the first glance. As david points out above, the quality could have been enhanced. This also applies to the white settlements on the stone.... There is noise there as well. Maybe further the post processing to reduce the noise, could have helped!

A good pov and dof, creating an original compo about a "common" subject. Good inspiration.

Nice angle and good contrast to highlight this profile. The clouds give it a nice balance.
Great Job.

Hi Angshumanda,
You must be pretty amazed to find a comment on your first posting.Did I enlighten any old memories?Actually I going thru your gallery, just to get an idea how you started and the process by which you improved with time.My notion is,you started way ahead than someone like me who had no idea what digital photography is(I cant claim I still have much idea!!!!),yet stepped into the digital world with the funny idea that you can take a lot of shots with a digicam, and that the problem of loading a film can be avoided.
You must have had a pro eye since the beginning,as is reflected here.Stunnibg POV and wonderfully executed!!
Regards.,
Sagarneel.

Hello Angsu!
Very nice picture of this stone face.
I like the contrast bteween it and the realistic blue sky.You chose a good point of view and I like the sharpness here very much. The difference between the black and the white parts in the face are very good.
Maybe you could have shown a bit more at all,but well done!
Jonas
