[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cambodia is the most amazing country I've ever visited. Such a devastated people and place i have never before seen anything like. It broke my heart to see it, yet at the same time, it was so wonderful to see such a broken people bounce back with such open warmth, friendliness and life. The worst of attrocities were commited in the rural provences like Battambang where the people were forced to work like animals in the khmer rouge rice paddies.

Two local guys brought us out into the countryside from Battambang on the their motorbikes so we could see for ourselves what the country is like now. We saw killing fields near the Monastary. In the caves above the fields, we saw the pagodas which were filled with blood and bones. But above all this, I remember some of the most open and forthcoming people i have met in all my life. As we went by the villages, the kids would flock onto the road to shout hellos. Literally hundreds of people offering greetings or sometimes only just a simple smile. It was amazingly touching.

Great image of hope & positiveness.

What a beautiful, dynamic photo, Andrew--it's very alive! It has just the right amount of blur and motion. It looks like it was tricky to get--shot from a moving motorbike?

Nice compo with the motion blur being very effective here. Hope to visit this part of the world sometime.

Thanks for sharing this photo and the note.

Yes Andy, this picture definitely portrays all you said in your note. There is the kid rushing by but still having time to wave at you and smile. Well captured.

Great shot Andrew! I like the movement in it. Makes me feel like I'm in the moment with you. Thanks for your comment on my pic by the way. Appreciate it!
