Photographer's Note

From last year's big summer trip...

This picture shows an everyday scene on a stretch of abandoned railway near Battambang (which is sometimes also spelled Batdambang).

One of the more quirky things to do in Cambodia is to travel on the so-called 'bamboo train', which basically is a bamboo raft on wheels travelling on an abandoned railway, dating from colonial times. It makes a handy way for locals to transport goods and people between villages.

These days, it is also a kind of tourist trap, of sorts, but a rather pleasant one.

Happy trails!
