Photographer’s Note

Dear TE friends, I have not been very active lately, too busy and uninspired. I hope all is well with you, those that are still here with us. So sad to see so many friends left. I hope them well too. Best wishes to all.

Yes, this is Tonlé Sap in Cambodia. The Large boat is used for hosting dinner cruise on the lake for tourists group. Fortunately it was not in operation the day I was here, so it was nice and quiet on the Lake. If you ever go to Siem Reap and want to choose where to see the sunset, there is a hill where all tourists go and all the people trying to sell you post cards and stuff, or you can choose to come here on the lake. There are still some people trying to sell you things on their paddle boats but not many and it make some really nice photo of them on the lake. You get to really enjoy a few minutes of peace and tranquility before heading back to the busy and dusty city. See workshop for the venders.

though the boat was stop, but it's moving up and down with the wave.

Thats a very pretty cruise.
I loved the color of the lake..almost looks like a boat in snow..
The anchor just in front of the sun is looking beautiful.

I am happy that you stay with us on TE. I hope that the administrators are going to have more flexibility and that some will return.
This image is full of peace, the boat which does not work seems to be to stop to admire the show.

Dear Way,
I am coming back after a few weeks absence. I regret the departure of some very good friends too... but still, I am glad to be back and to have the privelege to appreciate beautiful photos, as yours.
We can't hear the silence here, but we can feel it.

silent tonle sap is something particular.
I experienced it with chaos, noises, people and boats coming and going.

I like this quiet scene...just a sunset and silence to be enjoyed

I am also happy of your come back,and this,with a very beautiful picture!The blue and pinkish tones of the sky are wonderful,and I like very much their softness and their luminosityI also like the black silhouette of the boat and the poles satnding ourt this marvelous background!The graphism of the pole is well enhanced by the position of the sunset!Superb!

Hello Way,
A photo marked by the soft colour tones of the sky gradually spreading over the whole view.
Maybe an altrernative is to cut more of the boat at right to make it less dominant ?

Nice capture with those subdued colors and the almost silhouetted boat.

I'm not sure what all the hubbub is and why folks have stopped posting and some have left for other sites, but it is disconcerting. I just hope this dies down and some of those folks come back to help everyone else learn to be better photographers. I mean, that's what it is all about, right? By doing this, people are getting the wrong message, learning things other than how to be better photographers. Perhaps a "cleansing" was needed, I don't know. Anyway...

Thanks for being here - you would be missed if you followed suit.

The pastel hues are amazing! Like the small gap between the sun & the horizon. The massive lake looks like the sea here. Very well framed with the boat & the sticks in the centre (what are they?). There's a melancholic mood in this picture which reflects your mood (and mine as well). But I'm glad to see your posts continue here

A quiet moment indeed! what color and softness to the scene, the lone boat seemingly out of place as it is moored in the middle of the lake it appears. A very welcoming sight with the beautiful sunset.

Hello Way,
The colours create a mood of peace and tranquillity that I associate with South East Asia but which I not always find in reality. But you often manage to recreate that mood in your photos. I don't know weather it's because of your talent as a photographer or your personal background – or both. Nevertheless your pictures often have that quiet, and sometimes a little melancholy, atmosphere.

Wow wow wow! Spectacular sunset! The sky is seems like painted in beautiful soft pastel colors--the hues are really enchanting. The overrall image has a touch of magic and mellancholy.

I've been busy as well, but I have no plans to leave the community. I wish the best to those who left as well, however, I think their reaction is a bit melodramatic. Just an opinion.
All I can say I am glad Way ne Lim is still here :)

Hello Way! Yes back, and yes sad too how my favorites leave one after the other but this is how it goes, hey. The internet is fast and furious :))) and what was yesterday does not count these days. Nothing stays the same and I hope all get happy with their new websites, the way they have planned it, and find new and old friends within their new group. I am not that fast and I cannot change and make new friends within minutes and pretend that everything is just so cool but that's me. Like Maryori writes, this all is a little melodramatic and I am pretty sure that some regret deleting all their photos with all the lovely comments, it was like a diary sometimes. Oh anyway, what is all the blabla, let's start the thing again and have a little fun. This is a wonderful photo, Way, I can feel the silence, something we need so much in our busy lives. Another wonderful, nostalgic and evocative shot in your travelogue, full of atmosphere and composed with the usual care and creativity. Your excellent exposure leaves plenty of shadowy detail in the structure of the boat. Lovely, smooth gradient in the sky, and so little noise for 800iso. Your note is great, as usual, too. Glad you are still with us and have made a 'come-back'.

Indeed, I am also so sad because many TE-friends left the site and deleted all the pictures, others are inactive, make break. Is it holidays? Will they return? Who knows.. I got something like addicted to it, so the situation is painful for me. I do not know what to do.
You chose a very melancholic photo, one can feel here the silence, calmness. Impressive view of Tonle Sap, it looks like sea, difficult to believe it is the lake. Wonderful colours.
