IC [I see], so this is Tomb Raider location scene for next series? I was fascinated by this girl's body tatoo and the way she dressed herself with handily, light. I am not sure if she had knife or weapon under her belt but she definitely makes a perfect woman for me to frame her getting fully posed in the afternoon sunlight at the temple ruins of Angkor Thom [Khmer name meaning big city], our 2nd stop of the sites. I spoke with her a few times. She came from Spain with her German boyfriend. I met her 3 times over the next 2 days in different temple sites.
Like me, she is good in reaching to top of the steps to get a great view of the temples. Angkor Wat is the most popular for photographers in terms of grand design and layout of the temples but it is under repair and we could not reach to the top. Angkor Thom is slightly different, it is lower temples, more ruins and just a stone throw from Baphuon and Bayon.
I must also state here that credit is due to Santo/skippy007 for his influence of noticing a tattooed body and shooting it, although I have not reached his stage of close up yet :))

Greetings from a cold, wet & windy South Korea! An unusual shot where the focus is on the tourist & not the tourist attraction. Good use of a shallow dof with excellent sharpness & dof. Tfs!

Haha yeah it does look like Angelina.. just a bit shorter. Maybe they can call this movie: Lara Craft Takes a Holiday and Gets Away from it all. May not sell as many tickets.
Nice sunlight, and well framed.

Waylim (25436) 2009-04-20 23:31
Very funny shot, I like it, I find that being in Angkor, you almost have to enjoy other tourist as well, if you don't you'll be miserable since there are many tourists around. I like your attitude, shooting other tourists, that is very clever. I like that. Good quality as always. Cheers.
bobocortis (16026) 2009-04-21 0:53
Magic portrait from the back, and a tribute to the journey phographers. The architectural graphic items are well coupled with the woman's tatoos.
Disabled_A (0) 2009-04-21 0:59
LOL! A very good capture of a girl-photographer standing still in the sunlight against the ancient temple!
her tattoos are impressive, of course ;) But your capture of her standing like this, in this photo is even more impressive. I especially like the lighting in this photo: the image seems to be radiating with warm bright LIGHT!
snunney (105645) 2009-04-21 1:17
Interesting daily life shot of this woman sizing things up. She seems to be preparing to take a photo though there is no camera in evidence. You have managed the harsh lighting conditions well and good use of depth of field lifts her from the background.
Floydian (30970) 2009-04-21 3:50
Very interesting note, it's exactly what i do when seeing intriging people. Trying to make contact, some small talk, nice, because seeing your picture you were also triggerd by this woman which looks indeed interesting with all these tattoos and the way she stands like this.
Not difficult to imagine that het bottle of water is her laser gun ;-)
Angkor is a great place with the monuments and the popele who visit it...
albertojr (738) 2009-04-21 6:44
Well she has a resemblance although a bit short, Brad will definitely find her attractive because of the tattoo. :-). A clever shot Bill, you have been very careful with the orientation, choice of focal point and the placement of the girl. Amazing light as well. Well done for this Tomb Raider look alike.
wolf38 (31296) 2009-04-21 8:16
Hello Bill. The photo explains itself. Well observed and photographically in the best way realizes. In the sense of the word a good shot. Best regards, Wolfgang.

sayeed_rahman (6459) 2009-04-21 12:33

A lot of Angkor on TE now..even Phillipe is back..raising the bar eh ??
Didi (60590) 2009-04-21 16:53
Ha ha ha ! Well some difference with Angelina but this catch is very interesting indeed.
I wonder wat it will be the look of her tatoo when she will have 80 years old ?
gunbud (34066) 2009-04-21 20:07
The bright light works well here highlighting your model's body art.
Beautiful textures and details to these lovely old ruins.
Love her pack which could hold a knife or two.
JCG (35129) 2009-04-22 2:15
Indeed, seen back and with the background, this woman makes think of the heroin of this vibrating film which was diffused on French television last week !!! Very beautiful management of this strong luminosity which enables us to see the details of the image well. Pretty glance Bill.
With all my friendships of Versailles and with soon,
jmdias (68039) 2009-04-22 2:59
nice idea to show the tourist girl like a subject, she is in a nice position. I liked the light and the way you framed the scene. nice job
phwall (6785) 2009-04-22 3:06
What is it with tattoos, imagine what they'll look like when she's seventy, ugh.
Good thought to use the ruins as the background, you have focused all the attention onto this girl with all the body art.
Nice crop, it works well.
ciakgiak (30433) 2009-04-22 6:11
very interesting subject and great capture.

bracasha75 (24591) 2009-04-22 10:08

MarianneS (15338) 2009-04-22 13:17
A very nice capture! I like the way she handles her camera, with a lot of delicacy.
Seeing such a lovely girl with good light makes forget the nice background;-)
shevchenko (20548) 2009-04-22 19:05
Your memory card should have many extra spaces to record people activities at Angkor Wat, so lucky you meet her three times, suddenly I feel that site is too small, good frame to the girl, sunlight add extra effect, good shoot.
rodgerg (55767) 2009-04-23 2:58
A very good shot with the "desicive moment" well collected. Funny view too. A very good balance in the composition with this young girl wekll located in the image. Very good photowork.
Rosa (0) 2009-04-23 3:41
belle prise de cette jeune femme qui prend des photos.
Dans la belle lumière tu a bien capté le décort et la femme.
Les détails sont superbes et ressortent avec cette superbe lumière, comme les tatouages, les ombres etc...
Cretense (68703) 2009-04-23 6:16
Great photo, excellent daily life scene and great portrait, even if we only see her back, the tattoos tell us something about her! Interesting architecture in the background, great focus and depth of field, great light managment and colours! Congratulations!
axiotea (21651) 2009-04-24 2:41
hehe! You have a good imagination ;) and the title fits perfectly to the image!
An original idea to shoot at other photographers...especially if some details are fascinating you like the tattoos. I also found the way she is standing at her ease and her gesture are nice to look at! The blurred architecture gave her more impact!
jlbrthnn (76039) 2009-04-24 6:03
This fighting photographer is impressive and tempting. I appreciate his dynamism and his voluntarism translated by this excellent image. The light and the color are very pleasant. It is an excellent “portrait”. Congratulations.
Have a nice day
Philippe (11836) 2009-04-24 12:53
Hi, Bill. Amazing to take the picture of a photographer in such a setting. We'd rather expect to see the temple. But the result is nice with good contrasts between the light-coloured stones and woman's dark clothes. Good details of her tattoo and equipment.
Have a nice day,
UlfE (14641) 2009-04-24 21:23
Very well spotted and funny picture and good timing. Very nice colours and good sharpness. Also very good with the blurred background that makes Lara stand out a little bit against it. TFS and have nice weekend!

Good day for you
azaf1 (15929) 2009-04-27 5:59
Excellent framing of the tatoo with the antiquities in the bg. Even the light thru the bottle has nicely decorated it. Great job my friend
bisok (948) 2009-04-27 17:57
Actually, this is the second photograph from Siem Reab I like. The second one is here: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Cambodia/West/Siem_Reab/photo1065382.htm :-)
They have similar composition but ... :-)
Well, your photograph has very good quality and the girl on it really looks like Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) :-)
Great work :-)
jafadabret (56501) 2009-04-27 23:22
Superbe photo sous une belle lumière. J'aime cette composition qui fait une place importante à cette fille tatouée qui photographie le site de belle façon.
parbo (11092) 2009-04-28 5:36
Yes, you captured a wonderful scene with splendid effect of light and priceless beauty of lady's pose. Clarity and sharpness of your photo really noticeable with excellent usage of shallow focus. Shadows of water bottle on her legs are shows your creative point of view too. Congratulations.
pierrefonds (70537) 2009-04-28 5:39
A good capture of the photographer taking a photo od a special location. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the woman and certain parts of the temple ruins. The subject is well framed. The surrouding light is enhancing the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.
JanD (0) 2009-04-29 4:04
Nice scene. Wonderful woman. Very interesting tatoo. Good shot.
skippy007 (12510) 2009-04-30 20:06
Hello Bill, Even before I read your note I thought this is my kind of photo, I'm a little flattered that I was able to some influence on your photography, It is a real compliment, thank you. Excellent sharpness & light, good choice of aperture, blurring the old temple & focusing on the young lady with the interesting body art. Maybe next time a face ;-))).
Miha2ou7 (5162) 2009-05-03 8:32
Yeah, Tomb Raider pops into mind. Those tourists, where they will not go to get a good snap eh. :-) A good photo as expected. Focus is right on, no doubt due to the lens used. Good light too.
luighi (5297) 2009-05-04 5:26
Hi Bill , genial captura de "Lara Croft", intrepida aventurera.
Bien visto , buen trabajo .
saigon (6443) 2009-05-11 9:05
cela ressemble beaucoup a certaines de mes photos !
bonne composition a la PAPARAZZI !!
stego (24132) 2009-05-28 12:02
Hmmm... A Spanish female beauty taking photos in Angkor Wat... An interesting subject... :D I like the framing and the masterful way you used the light.
Angshu (56760) 2009-05-29 1:21
Something different, something very original. The blurred BG makes it difficult to recognise the temple, but it's Angkor Thom as I read from your note. The focus on her & especially the tattoo is something I like and the shadow of the water bottle on her shapely legs creating a serpentine curve!? Light is strong & good which makes this image very punchy. Well done!
Charo (51212) 2009-07-01 9:44
I love to capture this woman photographing and displaying his tattoos.
Excellent light and composition.
marietom (34609) 2009-12-08 0:02
