Well away from Angkor Wat and a long tuk tuk ride is the beautiful almost miniature temple complex of Banteay Srei. It is all on one level with exquisite carving in perfect condition over all surfaces. You find it hard to believe that building started in 967!
The stone used has a pinkish/reddish hue to it. The name of this Hindu temple, dedicated to Shiva, means "Citadel of the Women".

Ian, I found this a really nice Temple. Your image really shows off the detail of the carved stone and with the added scale of the view through the passageway deep into the Temple.

Impressive entrance. So many attractive details and fine ballanced contrasts. Well catch.
