Photographer’s Note
This is a third picture in a series devoted to one of the most fascinating temples of Angkor, Ta Prohm. What is really special about Angkor temples, is that they feature not only large buildings, that impress with their size and architectural layout, like Angkor Wat. Angkor temples have also so many detalis, like carvings that cover almost all the walls, porches, pillars, windows and so.
This is the carving above the door in the middle of Ta Prohm, under a huge tree which covers the structure with its roots. It dates back to the end of 12th century, and bearing this in mind it is remarkably well preserved. You can see a bigger view here and here.

Michal,
Very nice close up shot, showing lots of details and texture of the stone carving and the roots. It kind of looks like the statues is being swallow up by all these creatures. The statues with no face feature really enhance the historical vallue of how old and beat up they are. Very nice shot. Thanks

Hej Michale,
Fajne, tajemnicze zdjęcie w klimacie Tomb Ridera czy Indiany Jonesa... W takim miejscu rzeczywiście można się poczuć jak na planie filmu tego typu, prawda?
Doskonała kompozycja z melanżem starożytnych ruin i oplatającej je roślinności - wręcz Hollywodzki archetyp.
Pozdrawiam
Krzysiek

Great treasures that were half lost in the jungle. So much information to be studied by the experts. The preservation of these old remnants should have an urgent care, the roots may do futher damage. Earth so mysterious with powerful civilizations. How were they?... I will keep attent collecting these photos in a Cambodja folder. Congratulations for sharing this amazing photo. Best regards. Domingos
